Live Ready...

Sun Dogs at NWCHappy Wednesday, Friends! Susie Larson here...

And to those visiting, I say welcome! I post every Wednesday and my sole purpose is to nourish your soul along the way. Each month I give away a $10.00 Starbucks gift card to someone who posts on my blog. So share an insight, bless lots of folks, and just maybe you'll win a jolt of java for you and a friend.

Now on to my topic...

If you connect with me on Facebook, you already know that I lost my dad the day before last. On December 22nd, he went into the hospital with difficulty breathing. On December 23rd they diagnosed him with stage four lung cancer. And on January 2nd, he went home to be with the Lord. We're all stunned at how quickly his health declined. I'm so grateful that he is now pain free, but my grief overwhelms me at times.

As many of you know, I've felt especially drawn to study the end times lately. No matter where you stand on the topic, Jesus' return is closer than it's ever been. The other day, Andrew Hess Tweeted the following statement: Don't let your anticipation for 2012 overshadow the return of the King.

Amen and amen!

Jesus is coming soon. Though we can't and shouldn't try to determine the exact date of Christ's return, we must discern the times and the seasons just as He told us to. Based on fulfilled prophecies and the turbulence in our midst, I believe Jesus could come at any time. With all my heart I believe that a generation that walks the earth today will live to see the rapture. But even if I'm wrong, Jesus still calls us to live ready, alert, prayerful, and watchful.

Furthermore, none of us knows how many days we have left on this earth. Life can change in the blink of an eye. May we refuse to take our days for granted and instead, wrap our arms around faith, hope, and love, and live in a manner worthy of His Name!

So how do we live ready?

We open our eyes to the ways God is moving in our midst ~ Those who seek Him, will find Him (See Matthew 7:7-8).

We throw off sin, compromise, and petty thoughts associated with an earthbound life ~ Those who believe they have better things to do than grovel in the dirt, will do better things (See Hebrews 12:1).

We engage our faith ~ Those who expect great thing from God will accomplish great things for God (See Ephesians 3:20).

We pray passionately ~ Those who approach God will holy confidence and humble dependence will see miraculous answers to prayer (See 1 John 3:21-22).

We give generously ~ Those who sow generously will reap generously. It's impossible to outgive God (See 2 Corinthians 9:6)

We make every moment count for eternity ~ Those who live now with eternity in mind will have a greater capacity to enjoy heaven  when they get there (See Ecclesiastes 3:11).

We are not made for this place! We're just passing through. May we refuse the curse of a hurried, disengaged life. May we instead awaken to the power, provision, and promise written over us. May we access and appropriate all God offers us that we might live up to our high privilege in Him.

May 2012 be a breakthrough year for you. May you live ready for Christ's return, making the moments count for eternity.

God bless you.

~Until next week.

Ma armastan, et sa arvad Jeesus on tulemas. Ma nii loodan seda. Ma olen nii väsinud sellest maailmast. Ma tahan iga põlv on vibu ja keele tunnistama Jeesus on Issand. Ma tahan sin ja üksinduse ja valu lõpetada. Tahan ülistada ja kummardada Jumalat ilma piiranguid mu patuse liha. Ma tean, et ma pean olema rohkem mures hingi teised.

Bobbi,

Bless you and thank you so much for sharing about your faith journey. It is really something how the death of a loved one wakes us up to what really matters. I pray you will continue to grow mightily in your faith and grow increasingly aware of how deeply God loves you. Bless you, my sister.

Ellen,

Thank you for your post. "Attentiveness" is such a great word for the times. Thanks for sharing! It goes right along with scripture, that we live sober and disciplined lives so that we can pray. We're called to be watchful and alert. May God heighten our awareness of His presence and our sensitivity to His Spirit. Bless you, dear!

Dear Rebecca,

I'm so grateful you wrote that the post leaves you feeling safe, not fearful. God is with us. He is deeply intent on protecting His investment in us. Jesus is the One who will keep us from falling, and present us before God's glorious presence without fault, and with GREAT JOY! Praise! Bless you, dear sister.

Great encouragement, Jill, thank you so much!

And you are right! Something like 150,000 people die each day without a saving knowledge of Jesus. Lord, stir us up in faith and give us boldness to share Your love!

Bless you, dear Jill!

Dear Shelia,

Thank you for your post. May God surround you with a strong sense of His great love for you! May you live every day with the expectancy that He is moving in your life. May the Word of God come alive to you in a way you've never experienced. And may your prayers take on a whole new level of power and faith. You are His child and He is with you every step of the way. Blessings to you.

Hi Wick,

Thanks for the book recommendation. I'll look him up. Blessings to you this day!

Dear Kathy,

Love you too! May He hold us both close and continue to pour out fresh revelation and love that we may walk worthy of His Name! Blessings, dear sister.

Indeed we are in a time of preparation for the return of the KING!!! Maranatha!

LOVE you Susie! Jesus hold you close and continue to display His light through you.

Prayers and blessings to you, Susie. God is with you. I wonder if you've ever read NT Wright's "Surprised by Hope"? He's an amazing writer, with an incredible gift in communicating the good news of Jesus and what God has in store for us. May we continue to announce the coming of our Lord...:)

I'm sorry you lost your dad, Susie. My mom died 9 years ago.

I love that you think Jesus is coming soon. I so hope so. I'm so tired of this world. I want every knee to bow and tongue confess Jesus is Lord. I want sin and loneliness and pain to end. I want to praise and worship God without the restraints of my sinful flesh. I know I need to be more concerned about the souls of others.

Thanks for your words and your ears. Thank you to all the women who comment, too. It helps to not feel so lonely.

Susie, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad...I'm praying for you! Your words about end times brings much to mind, but this is what God's really put on my heart to share - there's one thing we can't do in heaven: share Christ! Everyone there will know HIM, so we better do that now!! Thanks for the reminder!!! Blessings and prayers to you, Jill

Thanks for the scriptural references, this post leaves me feeling safe and not fearful, so many times talk of end times is sometimes scary but I know as I continue to seek HIM in all I do and become more intimate in my relationship with HIM, I need not fear anymore.

Susie, I am so sorry you lost your Dad. My dad passed away many years ago, but I still remember my sadness. I have just finished a study about the end times an am reading a novel by the same author. The word the Lord always speaks to me whenever I study this topic is "Attentiveness". I believe that in these days and those, we will have to be very attentive to what is going on around us and to what the Lord tells us to do.

It was after my dad died (3 years ago) that I, for the first time in my 38 year old life, took a serious look at Heaven. Before that, I only thought of heaven as the "credits after the movie of life". But then I found myself in a crisis of not really knowing where I believed my dad "went". I needed to know his "mailing address". After studying and learning, I not only found peace and joy, I found myself living more Heavenly Minded and realizing that life on earth is really more like the local commercials that are shown before the previews of the movie!!

May your faith and knowledge strengthen your heart and mind in the days to come....
